How Binary Markets Work
A binary market asks a single question with two possible answers: will an outcome happen, or will it not. The classic example is a total market set at a line, where the outcome is either above that line or below it. There is no third result, which is what makes binary markets the simplest market type on the site.
Each side of the question is priced on its own, so the two prices together describe how likely the market is judged to be at that moment. Because the answer is fixed at the outset, a binary selection either wins or loses once the event is resolved — there are no partial returns and no margin applied to your selection.
Binary markets sit alongside the wider list on our sports hub, and they settle under the same market rules as every other market, which are set out on the rules and regulations page.
Types of Binary Markets
Above or below a line
The most common binary market takes a total — runs, goals, points, corners — and sets a line. Your selection is that the final figure lands above the line or below it. If the event finishes exactly on the line, the market rules state whether the result is a push or settled against the selection; checking the rules for that specific market removes the guesswork.
Will it happen
Event markets ask whether something occurs at all: whether there will be a goal in the first ten minutes, whether a match produces a certain number of wickets, whether a tie-break is reached. The answer is yes or no, and the market resolves as soon as the event either happens or can no longer happen.
Timing markets
Some binary markets are bound to a clock or a schedule — how many goals are scored in a set period, how many selections are confirmed in a round of fixtures. These settle on the stated period only, not on the wider result of the event.
Reading a Binary Price
A binary price moves between the two outcomes as information arrives. A price closer to certainty costs more and returns less; a price further from it costs less and returns more. Either way the return is fixed when the selection is accepted, exactly as it is for any other market on the site.
Prices react fastest to the events that change the underlying question: a goal changes a goal market, a wicket changes a runs market, a postponement changes everything. If a significant event happens while you are deciding, the market will typically suspend briefly so the price can be recalculated, and a selection submitted during a suspension is declined rather than taken at the old price. Our in-play guide explains suspensions in more detail.
Since a binary outcome resolves quickly, a session can contain many short markets in a row. Decide what you intend to stake before you open the first one rather than adjusting between outcomes — the responsible gaming tools cover how to set that limit in advance.

Binary Market Questions
What makes a market binary?
It has exactly two possible outcomes and no draw result for your selection. Either the stated condition happens or it does not.
What happens if the result lands exactly on the line?
The market rules for that fixture state whether a result on the line is settled as a push with the stake returned, or in favour of one side. The rules are shown with the market before a selection is placed.
Do binary markets have live prices?
Yes. Like other markets, a binary price updates as the event progresses and can suspend briefly when something significant happens. See the in-play guide for how suspensions work.
How quickly do binary markets settle?
As soon as the condition is resolved, which can be well before the surrounding event finishes. The stake and return are credited once the result is confirmed.
Can a binary market be voided?
Yes, if an event is abandoned or the market cannot be resolved under its rules. The rules and regulations page explains how voided and postponed events settle.
How do I keep binary sessions under control?
Set a deposit limit and a session time limit before the first selection, and stop when either is reached. The responsible gaming page explains the tools available.
Play Responsibly
Binary markets resolve quickly, so it is easy to place one selection straight after another. Set a deposit limit and a time limit before the first one and stop when either is reached, whether results are going your way or not.
Never stake money needed for bills, food or transport, and treat every outcome as entertainment rather than income. The responsible gaming information explains the limits, breaks and self-exclusion options available.
